Holiday destination
It's 4.5 km to the village of Hüttschlag, where you'll find shops and a bank. The Großarl-Dorfgastein ski area, with over 80 kilometers of slopes for all types of alpine skiing or snowboarding pleasure and state-of-the-art lift facilities, is just a 15-minute drive away (about 14 km). You can also take the free ski bus to the lift system, and a cross-country ski trail passes right in front of the house. There are also sledding opportunities near the cabin.
In summer, the Großarltal valley has a lot to offer as well, such as a variety of hiking opportunities with different levels of difficulty. Among the hiking trails, there are 40 serviced mountain huts where you can enjoy delicious homemade specialties. Mountain bike tours, mountaineering, or leisurely fishing by the stream are also available.
The Eisriesenwelt Werfen (about 25 km) and Hohenwerfen Castle, Lichtensteinklamm about 30 km, and the Mozart city of Salzburg are about 80 km away.
Getting there
From the A10 Tauern Autobahn, take the Bischofshofen exit, continue through St. Johann im Pongau towards Großarl. Proceed in the direction of Hüttschlag, and from the village of Hüttschlag, it's about 4.5 km towards the head of the valley. There, turn left over the bridge, and after approximately 100m, you will find the Hinteraschauhütte. It's best to look up HINTERASCHAU on Google Maps.
