This sunny 52 m² single-story holiday home is located in the picturesque garden resort of Oasis de Capistrano, about 600 meters as the crow flies from the sea. We fell in love with it immediately upon entering, due to the uniquely beautiful lighting mood, even though everything naturally seemed a bit 'older' at the time of purchase. Then everything was completely rebuilt, and this beautiful ambiance was further enhanced with our modern style... and this time everything was designed even more Mediterranean. Everything is in light blue, blue, white, and beige. The glazed wooden fireplace is clad with modern quartz stone, and the extensively equipped kitchen is designed with a water-like tile backsplash.
This resort is certainly one of the most beautiful garden complexes that Nerja has to offer. Specifically, it is a complex with many tall palms everywhere, winding walkways with many flowers, greenery, and tropical plants, as well as picturesque small houses nestled against the hillside. One feels a bit like being in the Caribbean, Florida, or Santa Barbara in the United States... with the many tall narrow palms.
Here you can benefit from two additional advantages:
You are at a similar sea level as the center of Nerja. So if you are okay with the approximately 2 to 3 km to the center, you can walk there comfortably, as there are only slight differences in elevation, also not to the two supermarkets within a manageable walking distance. It feels almost 'flat'. The path is aesthetically nothing special, but many vacationers like to walk it, which in San Juan de Capistrano (our other holiday properties) can be strenuous on the way back due to the fantastic panoramic location and the differences in elevation to Nerja.
By the way, the entire Oasis de Capistrano complex can also be driven through by car via a small road. However, there is little traffic, as we have something like a cul-de-sac setup here again, where only the residents themselves drive in and out.
In addition, the urbanization is located directly at the extension of the old aqueduct of Nerja, whose watercourses next to the complex also look like they are from Roman times and are really old. You can enjoy this view all the time.
A gem of a holiday area - with sea views and a great pool (close by, but not audible or visible). There is a separate children's pool and very large grassy areas for sunbathing. You can rent loungers, but you are not obliged to. Simply find a spot with your towel. From 'Marinera de Capistrano', your holiday home, it's only about a two-minute walk to the beautiful pool of Oasis de Capistrano. The second, rectangular pool, which is more suitable for swimmers, is also not far away. This pool also belongs to Oasis de Capistrano.
Note: Those who know us are aware that we always rent very transparently. In this spirit, we also want to point out, as a precaution, that vacationers who are sensitive to noise should know in advance that you can hear the coastal road a bit from the terrace (not at all when sleeping, as the bedroom is at the back and we couldn't hear anything inside the living room either). With larger vehicles (trucks usually take the highway to bypass Nerja, which is far away) like the occasional buses, etc., the sound can carry over quite clearly. However, the road is only visible from the front of the terrace and from a distance through the trees to the left - and is visually obscured. So it's less about the view. And from the large, rear part of the terrace, the coastal road is hardly visible and also much less audible.
Moreover, it always depends on the wind direction. On northeast wind days, it is more audible than on other days. We had openly asked the direct neighbors before buying (they were long-term vacationers on both sides of the apartment with the same terrace next door), and they were not bothered at all. They were thrilled with the location of their holiday home. So - as always - it's more of a mentality question... But we wanted to mention it at least... we always do that... And while we're on the subject, below the small children's pool (over 150 m away from the apartment, so it's only about that one pool area) it sometimes smells a bit, as there is a small sewer running under an open grate. But you usually only smell it when driving over it on the small road with a car. At the pool, usually not at all, and at the children's pool, rarely.
Oasis de Capistrano is designed like a neo-Moorish small village - with a beautifully located pool and a fairly large separate children's pool. Furthermore, as mentioned, there is a second, rectangular pool that is even better suited for real swimming, as there are hardly any sunbathing areas around it.
The many tropical and Mediterranean gardens invite you to take daily walks. The picturesque urbanization is characterized by its many beautiful, tall palms, gardens, and picturesque settings. Here you will find the idyllic atmosphere of a white, Andalusian village, which is becoming increasingly rare. This is almost only found in the Capistrano complexes (except for Capistrano Village, which has been built up a bit too much around the outside).
And this wonderful atmosphere with 'pure Andalusia' is so close to the center of Nerja and with quite good infrastructures nearby. For example, a restaurant right on the edge of the complex.
And you don't have to walk far to the Carrefour or Mercadona supermarket (opposite Carrefour). Of course, you can also drive, as there are always enough parking spaces in both supermarkets and in the complex itself during the high season. Usually in front of your accommodation - on Calle Tetuán - directly on the street in front of the entrance to the small flat block of houses. From there, it is only about 35 m to the entrance of your holiday home. The location is great - on a green walkway with lots of nature.
In total, from the car parked on the small road in front, you only have to climb 7 elongated steps from the entrance to the small road over a walkway. Even in the high season, there are usually more than enough parking spaces available.
The pool can be reached via steps or a winding path over the sidewalk and then through the gardens. So there are only a few steps to get there...
The picturesque historic old town and the center of Nerja are about a five-minute drive away, and the beautiful Burriana beach is about three. There is also a regular bus from the roundabout in front of the San Juan de Capistrano complex to the beach and the center.
The nearest large supermarket and a tennis court complex with a restaurant, etc., are also only about 1 to 2 minutes away by car from the apartment (or you can walk).
By the way, those who feel like it and are good on foot can take a slightly over 900 m long sandy path to Burriana beach. However, there is little shade, and at a stretch of about 5-10 m, you have to be a bit careful. So it's only for people who are good on foot. But as said, driving there is no problem either.
The Oasis de Capistrano complex is never 'dead'; there are even many permanently occupied apartments and houses, which reduces the number of pool users in the summer. In general, the residents use the pool less than the vacationers.
One of the two pools is usually usable all year round, as decided by the Comunidad (and so far, it has always been the case). Of course, the water is usually a bit too cold for swimming in the winter months, but on sunny days you can relax wonderfully and enjoy the sun in this great atmosphere. Often, even in winter, sun loungers are available for a small donation. And if not, there are the grassy areas.
