The nature reserve Het Zwanenwater was created in 1597, following the embankment of the adjacent Zijperpolder, and has been under the protection of 'Natuurmonumenten' since 1973.
It is an important migratory bird area and received the internationally recognized status of a Geotope in 2008.

From this holiday address, you are just a few minutes away from the beautiful beach of Callantsoog. It is a famous coastal town with a stunning location on the North Sea beach. Enjoy walks and bike rides along the beach, through the dunes, or in the lively hinterland.
In Callantsoog, numerous events are always taking place, both on the beach and in the village, including markets, music events, and a variety of restaurants.
There are also excursions to the Het Zwanenwater nature reserve.
Getting there
We recommend for those coming from the north of Germany to take the A30 (Rheine-Amsterdam) to the Amsterdam ring road. From there, continue in the direction of "Purmerend" and "Alkmaar". At the end of the motorway in Alkmaar, take the N9 towards Den Helder, until you reach the junction with the sign "Callantsoog-5 km". At this turn (Restaurant "De Stolp"), turn left and you will soon reach the facility on the left side.
From the south, the A3 motorway (Oberhausen-Arnheim) is a good choice, from there continue towards Utrecht, Amsterdam, and Alkmaar. At the end of the motorway in Alkmaar, take the N9 to your destination.
