2 km from Callantsoog and Groote Keeten, across from the beach ascent and in the middle of nature and flower fields! Callantsoog is a former fishing village and is one of the few bathing resorts in the Nordholland province that is located directly on the sea.
The town centre radiates atmosphere with its shops, restaurants and cafes with "folksy" terraces. For the athletic types there are numerous options: Swimming, fishing, riding, tennis, squash, cycling and hiking.
A large part of the dunes in the "Zwanenwater" nature reserve are in the immediate vicinity of the village. This approx. 550 ha. nature reserve made up of dunes, swamplands, lakes and forest houses the largest spoonbill colony in Europe together with grey herons, herring gulls and common gulls.
The belt of dunes in the centre is narrow by contrast and you are on the beach in no time. The beach stretches for kilometres in both directions. The beautiful Zijpener Polder landscape begins at the village exit of Callantsoog with typical north Dutch farms, windmills and the most beautiful fishing areas.
The harbour town Den Helder is approx. 15 km away - the famous maritime musuem is located here.
From the historic city Alkmaar with its lovely shops and the famous cheese market, you can reach the centre of Amsterdam by train in approx. 40 minutes.
