In the oldest cultural landscape in Europe, the Reitdiepgebied, lies the vacation home Harssensbosch. In the past it was a small hamlet, even with its own church and cemetery. Today, only traces of it can be seen in the landscape. The strongly meandering river Hunze (Reitdiep) lies in the Reitdiep area and connects Groningen with the sea. As for nature, there is much to experience in the Reitdiep area. There are flowering hay meadows and ditches with swan flower, hedgehog head, chickweed and holly. In spring, numerous meadow birds breed here. In late summer and fall, large flocks of lapwings and golden plovers pass through the Reitdiep area. They rest and feed here before continuing their journey. The Reitdiep area is a wintering area for thousands of ducks (mainly widgeons). The city of Groningen is only 8 kilometers away. Thus, there are numerous possibilities for going out and eating. The present farmhouse was rebuilt in 2008 by Het Groninger Landschap in the atmosphere of 1900 with materials from the old farm. Harssensbosch is suitable for 4 persons. The house has underfloor heating and can be supplemented with gas heating if needed. You can step back in time when you sleep in one of the 2 beds (140 x 200) in this house. The kitchen is equipped with a microwave (no oven and no dishwasher). Harssensbosch is also equipped with all comforts. Various cycling routes have been worked out, which will take you to the most beautiful sights. Next to the house are 2 bicycles that you can use during your stay. The front house and the barn both have their own entrance.
