Holiday destination
Ghiffa is known as the "Riviera of Lake Maggiore" thanks to its mild climate and is the most popular spot on the Piedmont shore of the lake. Near Ghiffa, there is also the nature reserve Riserva Naturale del Sacro Monte della Trinità, which has been declared a World Heritage Site and spans over 200 hectares of forest.
Getting there
By car: Coming from Basel, take the St. Gotthard motorway to Locarno on the Swiss side of Lake Maggiore. To travel to the west shore: continue over the border at Piaggio Valmara on the federal road 34 along the shore of Lake Maggiore. To travel to the east shore: cross the border at Zenna and then continue on the country road 394. From Lindau (D)/Bregenz (A), take the S. Bernardino motorway to Locarno (CH) and then proceed as described above. By plane: The three airports Malpensa (MXP), Linate (LIN), and Bergamo (BGY) in Milan are served by almost all German airports. The Malpensa airport is the most conveniently located, only 20 km from the southern part of the lake.

Die Wohnung ist ein Traum. Wir sind mit 5 Personen angereist und hatten ausreichend Platz. Auch wenn die Betten tatsächlich etwas schmal geraten sind und die Matratzen durchaus getauscht werden dürften, haben wir die Nächte dort wunderbar ruhig geschlafen. Die Krönung ist der Ausblick vom Balkon. Wir konnten uns daran kaum satt sehen und haben die meiste Zeit, die wir in der Wohnung verbracht haben, dort verlebt. Bis spät in die Nacht haben wir die Berg- und Stadtsiluette genossen. Selbst die beiden Gewitter die wir miterleben dürften waren wovon dort aus ein echtes Schauspiel. Bereits nach der ersten Nacht stellte sich bei uns allen ein totales Urlaubsgefühl ein und wir konnten den stressigen Alltag vollkommen hinter uns lassen. Zum abschalten ist diese Wohnung einfach fantastisch.

Die Wohnung ist Teil eines Reihenhauses und so bekommt man viel von den Nachbarn mit. Da der Fußboden gefliest ist, hört man in der Wohnung darunter jeden Schritt. Aber während der Nacht ist alles sehr ruhig. Die Wohnung ist sehr geräumig und top gepflegt und modern ausgestattet. Alles sehr sauber. Die Betten sind definitiv zu schmal und zu kurz für Mitteleuropäer -> austauschen. Die Matratzen dafür aber gut. Die Couch im Wohnzimmer ist zum drauf sitzen viel zu weich -> austauschen. Auf der großen Terrasse mit dem 1 million $ view hätten noch 2 Liegestühle Platz. Uns hat es sehr gut gefallen und wir können die Wohnung wärmstens weiter empfehlen.
