At the foot of Monte Cargiago, Ghiffa boasts many villas and lush vegetation. Nearby are the well-known and prestigious towns of Intra and Pallanza: Intra is famous for its market and the beautifully charming old town. Pallanza, of Roman origin, offers a beautiful long lakeside promenade with inviting restaurants, cafés, and shops. Spread over a 20-hectare area are the Botanical Gardens of Villa Taranto, home to more than 20,000 plant species including some of the rarest from all continents.

Wir verbrachten einen sehr schönen Urlaub im Appartemento Ronco. Die Verkehrsanbindung, 800m von der Uferstraße entfernt und die Parkmöglichkeiten sind sehr gut. Nachdem man die Hürde von etlichen Stufen vom Parkplatz und im Haus überwunden hat, wird man belohnt, von einer schönen, italienisch eingerichteten Wohnung auf 2 Ebenen. Die Wohnung ist sehr großzügig geschnitten. Die sanitären Einrichtungen sind sehr gut und die Küche super ausgestattet. Im Untergeschoß befinden sich die 2 Schlafräume (Babyreisebett war auch vorhanden) und Bäder. Über eine Holzwendeltreppe gelangt man ins Obergeschoß in Küche, Wohn- / Esszimmer und dem tollen, riesigen Balkon mit schönen Liegestühlen und Grünpflanzen. Man hat über einige Dächer hinweg eine sehr gute Seesicht auf dem Lago Maggiore.
