Lake Maggiore is a place of rare beauty where the richness of cultural heritage meets the unspoiled nature of this particular area of the Alps. It stretches between Piedmont and Lombardy, not far from Milan and the Swiss border. The excellent Mediterranean climate, breathtaking landscapes, and Borromean Islands make it a unique and enchanted place with an infinite number of historic villas.
Famous for its colours, perfumes, the magic of the nature, the Lake Maggiore shows a scenery of incomparable beauty, which differs throughout the year. Let yourself be captivated by its romantic soul...
For your stay in Stresa I can you some tips for excursions: here you can find the three famous islands: Isola Bella, Isola Madre and Isola dei Pescatori, each with its charm and different sights. A visit to the 3 Borromean Islands, which you can visit with the official boats of Navigazione Lago Maggiore (cheaper than the boat taxi service).
In the flat you will find a timetable and a wealth of tourist information about the region.
- Another excursion not to be missed is a visit to Lake Orta. From the house, drive up towards Mottarone and then turn off towards Orta in the village of Gignese. In Orta you will find a large car park, then just drive down to the centre of Orta, on the edge of the lake, the centre is very characteristic. If you want to take a boat, you can visit the island of San Giulio in the centre of the lake.
- If you love flowers, you can visit the botanical garden of Villa Taranto in Verbania-Pallanza (azaleas, camellias, hydrangeas, magnolias, exotic flowers and plants, etc.).
- On Tuesday morning in Arona (15 km from Stresa) there is a large market by the lake. The car park is located behind the train station.
- If you are looking for a public beach, you can try Stresa in front of the Hotel Regina Palace (it is better to look for a car park in Stresa), or a few kilometres from Stresa in Baveno in the public park of Villa Fedora, with a beach and a kiosk, or on the beach of Feriolo Camping, at the end of the lake.
- For shopping you will find many nice shops and boutiques in the centre of Stresa and also in Arona (pedestrian area Cavour).
- In Stresa, Via Giosue' Carducci 30, you will find a new Conad supermarket with underground car park, which closes at 20:00, or in Via Roma 11 you will find the Carrefour supermarket, which closes at 21:00.
Getting there
From Gotthard or San Bernardino or Simplon (Switzerland), state roads SS 34 and SS 33, until Baveno and Stresa.
From Milan, Malpensa or Linate Airport : take motorway A8-A26 ("Gravellona Toce") until the exit "BAVENO-STRESA" (higher than Stresa) and then go down to Baveno and Stresa

Besser gehts nicht: Wünderschöne Lage mit traumhaftem Blick auf den ganzen See und die Berge. Die Ausstattung der Wohnung lässt keine Wünsche offen. Die Vermieter sind super nett und sorgen für alles, was man braucht. Sehr zu empfehlen. Wir waren zum zweiten Mal hier und freuen uns auf das nächste Mal.
