The shortest route to the beach at Follonica takes 30 min.
It takes 45 min to get to my favorite beach (Castiglione della Pescaia, kilometers long). It's worth it, as it's a beautiful beach.
Siena 60 min, Florence 2h, Rome by train from Grosseto 1h 20min, Massa Marittima 15-20 min.
Bagni di Petriolo (hot sulfur springs) 40 min.
It's a 40 min drive to Torniella where, after a 20 min walk, you'll find the Farma with bathing pools and a small waterfall, a beautiful excursion into nature.
Volterra is about 50 km away, San Gimignano.

Getting there
From the North via Florence:
Exit Florence (Firenze) at Impruneta (toll booth), heading towards Siena. Take the exit for Colle di Val d'Elsa, towards Siena-Grosseto. Continue straight over 2 roundabouts, roughly in the direction of Grosseto-Follonica on the 541. After about 25 km, turn right (towards Massa-Marittima), up the switchbacks, down the mountain past Frosini, and after about 11 km (gas station), turn right towards Follonica and Massa Marittima onto the 441. After about 18 km, you will reach Gabellino. From there, turn left towards Boccheggiano.

Host informationAbout 20 years ago, my husband and I came to Italy and our small family has been fortunate to live in the Maremma for a long time. We have been hosts at Roccaprataia for 10 years now, and the beautiful Casa Lara has recently joined us. We are happy to introduce you to our wonderful area.

Die Terrasse, der weitläufige Garten und der Blick sind hier einfach ein Traum! Man könnte auch zwei Wochen am Haus verbringen, so wohl kann man sich dort fühlen! Die Küche ist wunderbar ausgestattet, es gibt auf der Terrasse mehrere Sitzmöglichkeiten und sollte es abends etwas frisch werden, setzt man sich einfach in den Wintergarten. Auf zwei Dinge sollte man sich einstellen: Mücken und kurvige Straßen. Denn egal, wohin man will, man muss erstmal vom Berg runter durch die Kurven- wobei die Straßen breit und gut befahrbar sind. Wir würden die Unterkunft auf jeden Fall weiterempfehlen. Es ist sehr schön und Anja ist eine hilfsbereite Gastgeberin, die auch einige gute Tipps für Ausflüge und Entdeckungen hat! Wir hatten einen wunderbaren Urlaub!

Wer einmal wie Lord und Lady ein paar Tage auf einem Landsitz mit Tor und Zufahrt verbringen will und Freude an einem unbegrenzten Rundumblick über Hügel und Wälder hat, ungestörten Sternenhimmel und Eulenrufe in der Nacht liebt, der ist hier richtig - Natur pur.
Das Haus ist absolut ruhig gelegen und bietet maximale Privatsphäre. Es ist liebevoll gemütlich eingerichtet und sehr sauber. Für Social Media Addicts: Internet und WiFi sind hervorragend.
Die Gastgeber sind sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit und können viele Anregungen geben where to go and what to see.
