The town of Strada, within walking distance, offers all the shops you need, including a post office, bank, and a weekly market (mercato) every Monday afternoon on the main piazza, a pizzeria, and several good restaurants. In Bibbiena, about 12 km away, there is a large shopping center with a Coop supermarket. At a distance of 6 km in Poppi, there is a golf course in a fantastic panoramic location with a very good restaurant/pizzeria, while in the town of Strada there are tennis courts, a public swimming pool, a fitness center, and bowling.
Excursions to the many other small towns of the Casentino area, such as Pratovecchio, Stia, Poppi, Rassina, are worthwhile; everywhere there is something to see and experience, especially in the summer when characteristic folk festivals take place in every town, such as the wine festival, the mushroom festival, the ravioli festival, and many more. Of course, there is always food and drink, Tuscan wine, and Tuscan dishes; it is amusing and entertaining, and you should not miss any of them.
You can reach Florence in just under an hour by car, Arezzo as well, and all the other art and culture cities like Siena, San Gimignano, Assisi, Perugia, Cortona are nearby and worth a day trip. A tip for your city tours: take the train from Arezzo to the Porrena stop, which is about 50 minutes away, with trains running almost every hour, and the stop is just a 5-minute drive from the holiday home. The bus stop to Florence is also just a few minutes from the holiday home, with the bus running about 8 times daily between Florence and Strada; both options are highly recommended if you want to avoid the stress of searching for a car or parking space in the city.
