The ground floor (monument) of the Posthalterhof was renovated in 2019. It was important to optimally combine the historical with the modern on 254 sqm. New bathrooms, box-spring beds in all 4 bedrooms, open kitchen with gas cooker, Wi-Fi in all rooms, flat-screen TVs with Netflix & Prime, Alexa in the dining and fireplace room, but also the special flair of the old walls was preserved.
Cook together on the gas cooker and enjoy food, wine and togetherness at the large dining table with good music.
Or after exploring the surroundings, chat, play games or watch TV in the historic fireplace room by the open fire.
Suitable for up to 8 people, the monument offers 4 bedrooms, of which the well room and the coachman's room have separate access. The cave room is adjacent to the mountain room and can only be reached through the mountain room.
On the private terrace there is a large table for 12 people as well as a barbecue.
At Christmas 2021 we opened our new sauna area for all guests of the Posthalterhof. In our large garden there is a 500-year-old vaulted cellar embedded in the rock. Here our guests can relax in an extraordinary atmosphere in the sauna for up to 6 people and in the whirlpool. And listen to music with a warming flame in the sheltered outdoor area in the covered lounge corner and enjoy the magnificent view of the castle.
Our garden and the sauna are on the 1st floor and can be reached via a staircase in the house.

The Posthalterhof, built by Thurn und Taxis in 1683, has been lovingly restored with great attention to detail and offers an extraordinary atmosphere in ancient walls. Antique furniture and modern amenities of the bedrooms, newly renovated bathrooms, and fully equipped open kitchens are stylishly combined. Additionally, Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs with Netflix & Prime, as well as Alexa devices are available in dining or living rooms.
In addition to the ground floor (historic monument), which can be rented for up to 8 people, the attic (Burg Maisonette) accommodates up to 6 people. The first floor features 4 apartments, ideally suited for 2 people. The Ahrquelle apartment offers about 25sqm of a cozy sleeping and living area with a small kitchenette and bathroom. The Georgstor apartment has about 55sqm and also includes a couch, a large kitchenette, and a spacious bathroom. The two newly renovated apartments, Jakobsweg and Eifelsteig, have direct access via a door in the apartment to their own small terrace with a dining table and grill. The Jakobsweg apartment, with about 35sqm, has a studio character due to the separate double bed and large couch. The Eifelsteig apartment offers about 30sqm in a cozy sleeping and living space with large chairs for relaxation. Dogs are welcome here.
Guests of the ground floor have their own terrace with a large table and grill. For guests of the attic, the garden located on the first floor with a terrace and a large table with grill is available. Guests staying in the Ahrquelle or Georgstor apartments can also use the terrace in the garden with dining tables and a grill.

Here, our guests can relax in the sauna and whirlpool in an extraordinary atmosphere - accommodating up to 6 people. In the secluded outdoor area, in the covered lounge corner with heating flame, guests can listen to music and enjoy the magnificent view of Blankenheim Castle. The use of the wellness area is free and can be booked by our guests for a few hours each day.
2 private parking spaces are located directly next to the Posthalterhof for guests in the ground floor. Above the garden area, 3 more private parking spaces are available. Bicycles and motorcycles can also be securely parked.
Additional important notes:
Within the ground floor, there are a few stairs. The Ahrquelle and Georgstor apartments are located on the first floor and are accessible via the stairs in the house or from the courtyard. The holiday apartment Burg Maisonette is on the 2nd floor. Due to the character and construction, our house is not suitable for children under 3 years old.
Directly opposite, you can purchase fresh rolls and bread, as well as cakes, at the bakery. The Engel butcher shop, known for its Eifel quality products, is about 200m away and offers meat and sausage products made from local farms in the Eifel region. A pharmacy, 2 banks, a variety store, a boutique, and a bookstore, in addition to Patina Antiques, are also located in the village. A supermarket, discount store, and drugstore can be reached in 3 minutes by car. You can enjoy excellent dining at the local brasserie by the Ahr, which serves French-German cuisine and is less than 150m from the Posthalterhof. The Landlust also offers tarte flambée and salads in a beautiful ambiance. Directly across from it is the wine shop, which offers a wide variety of wines as well as different types of beer daily.
Next to the Eifelsteig & AhrSteig, Eifelspuren & Eifelschleifen, and Römer- & Tiergartentunnelweg running directly in Blankenheim, the nearby Lampertstal and the Nohner waterfalls provide countless hiking and biking tours.
The Nürburgring is 30.5 km away. The City Outlet Center and the historic Bad Münstereifel are about 20 km away, as well as the picturesque castle village of Kronenburg, which is also worth a visit with the Kronenburger Lake. The swimming-friendly Freilinger Lake is just a 15-minute drive away, as is the butterfly house in Ahrhütte. The Cologne Trade Fair is 75 km away, and due to good transport connections, the travel time is under 1 hour. Trier can be reached in 100 km.
