Excursions to Loro Parque with the largest collection of parrots in the world - to Teide, the highest mountain in Spain - to the steep-sided Masca Gorge and the romantic little mountain village of the same name - to Taganana, the little fishing village in the Anaga Mountains - to La Laguna with its fascinating old town - to the capital, Santa Cruz - to the popular
Playa de Las Teresitas with its white sand - to Icod de los Vinos with the oldest dragon tree in the world, the butterfly house, the doll museum – the list goes on and on and on ...
Head to the south to find SIAM Park – a fantastic water park for young and old alike – as well as miles of sandy beaches and the harbour of Los Christianos, from where you can set off on trips to the neighbouring islands.
This popular apartment is located in La Chiripa apartment complex in the San Fernando district of Puerto de la Cruz in the immediate vicinity of Taoro Park. Restaurants, bars, bus stops and small grocery stores are practically located just "round the corner". It takes 15-20 minutes to walk to the old town or the beaches through the Parque de la Sortija and then via the steps and paths that lead through Taoro Park. You can walk to the bus stop in 5 minutes; taking a taxi along the route between the old town and La Chiripa is very inexpensive too.
There's a "corner shop" across the street where you can buy your daily newspapers, magazines, fresh bread rolls, etc. The city is home to various supermarkets, including Lidl and Coviran (with many German products, Edeka). Most offer a delivery service. It's always worth paying a visit to La Villa shopping centre with its numerous shops, boutiques, bars and cinemas.
You don't have to head far from LA SIESTA to find various café-restaurants, including the "Park Café", "La Sortija", the "Terraza Taoro" and "Alberto's", where there's a terrace with a fantastic view out over the city. People meet up to watch Bundesliga football matches in "El Faro" sky bar.
If you like going to concerts, take note of the posters for the Salle Taoro (2 minutes away) and the Sala Teatro TIMANFAYA (in the old town), or drive to the impressive Auditorio de Tenerife in Santa Cruz.
La Chiripa is particularly appreciated by hikers thanks to its location.
Yet another advantage: If you have a rental car, it only takes 5 minutes to drive to the motorway (which you're guaranteed not to hear in the apartment!)
From Tenerife South—Reina Sofia Airport, take the southern motorway in the direction of Santa Cruz until you reach Santa Maria del Mar, then take the connecting road to the northern motorway in the direction of Puerto de la Cruz.
Take exit 35 (Puerto de la Cruz-Las Arenas), go past the Lidl supermarket to the roundabout, turn right there and drive to the English school (head through the entrance gate to "Taoro Park"), follow the signs for "Hospiten" as you go, turn right there - then turn right again into the second street on the right and turn right once more (by the pink house) into Calle Bélgica at the end of the road. After around 10 m, a ramp on the right-hand side leads up to the entrance of "La Chiripa" apartment building.
