Holiday destination
Kastel Castelvenere, the hilltop offering breathtaking views over the Dragonja River valley, has been inhabited since prehistoric times. Following the Roman conquests, the castle became a Castrum, taking the name Castrum Veneris, likely in relation to the temple dedicated to a pagan goddess. After 10km, you will reach Umag, which with its 45 km long coastline offers a hinterland and features such as Savudrija, the oldest active lighthouse at 36m high.
Getting there
Traveling from the West through Austria (Salzburg, Villach), Slovenia (Ljubljana, Postojna, Koper), take a right turn in Koper from A1 (sign Pula Porec-HR) and continue on E751 Smarska Cesta towards the Croatian border crossing Kastel. Kastel is the first town after the border, turn left 400m after the border (sign Kastel). In Kastel, follow the sign to Umag. After 350m, turn right at a chapel. There is a sign for Vizinada, Vizinada is a part of Kastel where your destination is. After about 50m turn right, then go straight, after about (15m left) you will find your holiday home.
