Apulia boasts an array of must-see cultural destinations. Within a one-hour drive, you can reach cities such as the Baroque city of Lecce (the 'Florence of the South'), the captivating coastal town of Gallipoli, the historic Taranto, the Trulli town of Alberobello, the white city of Ostuni, and many more. The nearby dune coast offers a variety of leisure activities with its bathing coves and crystal-clear, turquoise waters, as well as beautiful port cities like Porto Cesareo.
Our holiday home is located on the border between the provinces of Taranto and Salento. Its regional location offers all the advantages for a relaxing and at the same time diverse vacation in Apulia. Villa Karl is situated in the best and year-round inhabited - that is, non-touristic - villa area of Manduria, surrounded by large ancient olive groves and vineyards. At the same time, the nearest village Uggiano Montefusco is only about 1.5 km away via the nearby road. There, you'll find good shopping opportunities, such as various bakeries, a butcher, a pharmacy, a "Tabacchi" and cafes for espresso, as well as a small supermarket. Throughout the year, producers sell their fruits and vegetables directly from the wagon – a genuine South Italian atmosphere. Supermarkets like Famila, Lidl, or Eurospin are located 2-4 km away. Weekly markets take place in various locations in the area.
The district town of Manduria - the center of Primitivo wine and city of the Messapians – is about 2.5 km away. The city offers a lot of local color, a historic old town with many small restaurants, and a beautiful shopping street.
Just a few minutes' drive from our house begins the extensive, completely undeveloped coast of the Ionian Sea. Here you will find gently sloping sandy beaches with crystal-clear water and kilometers of dune beaches with fragrant maquis. The tranquil off-season is ideal for individual travelers, while in July and August it becomes more lively. Enjoy the early morning by the sea and then have breakfast in a nice café in Campormarino. In the summer, take advantage of the varied leisure activities at the sea and at the same time enjoy the privacy and tranquility in the hinterland at the holiday home in the evening.
Apulia is a land of culture. Frederick II built his famous "Castel del Monte" here. The biggest attractions in the nearby region are the Baroque city of Lecce (the "Florence of the South"), the fascinating white port city of Gallipoli, the center of Tarantella music Gallatina, the nearby Itria Valley with its many Trulli buildings and their center Alberobello. Taranto with its archaeological museum and the famous "Gold of Taranto" is just a good half-hour drive away. Equally fascinating for young and old is a tour through the prehistoric Grotta di Castellana with its impressive stalactites and stalagmites. The list could go on endlessly, and especially the many small places to discover have the typical, original South Italian flair. Some nearby excursion destinations include the small marina of Campomarino, the port town of Porto Cesareo, the ceramic city of Grottaglie, the fortress town of Oria, and many more. We provide travel guides to the region in our house and a house book with a variety of additional material and tips that our guests and we have collected over time.
You can reach our holiday home by plane via Brindisi or Bari, as well as by car via Switzerland or Austria and then via the well-developed motorways to the south.
On-site, you will be personally welcomed and accompanied to the house. German-speaking contacts are available locally.
