Holiday destination
The cosy fishing village and seaside resort Tonnarella is part of Furnari (6.500 inhabitants). Furnari is situated in a spacious bay between Capo di Tindari and Capo di Milazzo directly at the sea and 30 km from Milazzo (40.000 inhabitants). Everything for the daily needs is available in a short walk.
During the high season, especially in August the usually quiet and leisurely, small fishing village Tonnarella turns into a quite lively and typical Sicilian seaside resort with many international tourists.
You really should go to see the romantic fishing port of Tonnarella and the neighbouring big marina Portorosa. Best time is the morning when the fishermen come back with their catch and the luxurious yachts leave the harbour for a cruise to the Eolian Islands. In case you want to go on a cruise yourself you can charter all kinds of boats of all seizes in Portorosa.
In summer all the Eolian Islands are reachable from the big marina Portorosa and yearlong from the neighbouring town Milazzo in short time by ferries. The islands Lipari, Vulcano, Stromboli, Panarea, Alicudi, Filicudi and Salina are popular destinations year-round.
Go to see the beautiful old town of Milazzo with its big castle, the promenade at the port, lots of shops and all sorts of restaurants. At Capo Milazzo, too, there are wonderful sandy beaches, lonely rock coves, great hiking paths and a lighthouse with a fantastic view.

Per ship: Car ferries from Genua, Livorno, Civitavecchia or Naples to Palermo or from Naples to Milazzo with a short stop on the Eolian Islands
By car: From Catania towards Palermo or from Palermo towards Messina on the motorway A20 (Messina-Palermo) to the EXIT “Falcone” or “Barcelona Pozzo di Gotto”
