Why not book a horse ride on the beach at the Portbail riding school, or a land Yachting lesson at Bretteville? Try Canoeing the river Douve at St. Sauveur le Vicomte. There is an 18 hole golf course at St. Jean de la Riviere.
Holiday destination
The cottage is in the beautiful Parc Naturel des Marais du Cotentin and a short drive from beautiful sandy beaches. Cycle paths are easily accessible from the house and Mont Castre is within walking distance. The lively local market town of La Haye du Puits is a 5 minute drive with a good selection of shops, supermarkets and restaurants and a weekly street market on Wednesday. Further afield are the fishing ports of Portbail and chic Carteret, whilst possible day trips include the Mont St. Michel, Bayeux, St. Vaast La Hogue and Barfleur on the east coast.
Getting there
Follow signs to Barneville-Carteret, then stay on the D650 until you pass the 'Havre de Surville'. From Cherbourg turn left onto the D526 and we are the first drive on the right, next to the church (route de l'eglise) GPS:- 49.2789386,-1.6553235

Unglaublich toller Urlaub mit fantastischen Vermietern, liebevoll ausgestattetes Haus und absolute Ruhe in der Umgebung. Das Anwesen ist schon Jahrhunderte in Familienbesitz und das merkt man deutlich. Mit viel Liebe und Geschmack gepflegt. Wenn man Entspannung und Ruhe sucht, ist man hier richtig. Wir kommen bestimmt wieder. Mr. D'André spricht gut Englisch . Für unsere Söhne (12 + 15) hat er auf der riesigen Wiese extra ein Fußballtor aufgestellt, als er sie spielen sah. Am endlosen Strand ist man alleine, bei Ebbe ist das Wasser aber sehr weit weg. Man muss sich im Klaren sein, dass man alles mit dem Auto machen muss (Bäcker 4 km, Supermarkt 7 km entfernt). Fahrrad geht auch, es gibt aber keine Fahrradwege und die sogenannten Landstraßen dort wären in Deutschland Feldwege. Also sehr schmal.
