Fundamentally, the following must be considered in the reservation of a hotel room:
If a room is ordered and the reservation confirmed by the hotel, a so-called guest accommodation contract or lodging agreement is created. This does not have to be in writing, a telephone booking is sufficient.
The conclusion of the accommodation or lodging contract obligates the contractual partners to fulfil the agreed upon mutual conditions for the duration of the contract: it is the obligation of the hose to provide the room pursuant to the order. It is the obligation of the guest to pay the price for the time (duration) of the order of the hotel room.
The guest accommodation or lodging contract is not handled differently from any otehr contract pursuant to the Civil Code. Any other agreements in the contract concluded or the General Terms and Contract (GTC), the lodging contract may not be cancelled unilaterally by any contractual party. Completely independently of the time or reason for cancellation, there is no right to the cancellation of the booking.
If the guest does not use the hotel room, they are legally obligated to pay the price for the ordered room made available by the hotel. This is not damage compensation, but a claim to fulfilment, which is often overlooked. Any operating costs which are not incurred, such as for the provision of bed linens can be subtracted from the claim. The amount of these savings are based on the concrete circumstances of the individual case.
The value of the savings under case law
for lodging/breakfast with a flat fee of 10 percent to 20 percent
for lodging/half board with a flat fee of 30 percent
for lodging/full board with a flat fee of 40 percent from the lodging price
are regularly considered suitable.
In a court case, the judge came to the conclusion that the guest had to pay 94 percent of the agreed upon room price. But an individual court decision cannot be generalized.

In the immediate vicinity there are the famous Roman sights (Unesco world heritage site), pedestrian zone zone with cafes, restaurants, many shops and cultural sights of the Trier old town.
The nearness to Luxembourg (30 minutes by car) and France (Metz about 60 minutes by car) is perfect for excursions to the neighbouring countries. There is an extensive cycling network on the Saar and Moselle or the popular Ruwertal cycling route (former railway route) available for cyclists.
Bike parking in the courtyard, detailed information and tour recommendations can be provided by the landlord.

Es war zwar nur ein kurzer Aufenthalt, aber dennoch haben wir uns sehr wohl gefühlt und können uns nur allen anderen Gäste anschließen.

Super schöne Ferienwohnung im Zentrum von Trier. Alles ist gut zu Fuß zu erreichen. Sehr nette Vermieter, die auch Ratschläge für Fahrradtouren haben. Wir waren vier Nächte in der Wohnung und kommen gerne wieder.
